Casper Maehren

Casper Maehren, 225 Seventh Avenue North, died at 12:20 p.m. June 9 at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Maehren was a pioneer resident of Central Minnesota and in his youth studied at St. John's. In 1888, he married Philomena Imholte of St. Augusta. She died in 1936. In 1939, he married Mrs. Ellen Ewart who survives.

For 12 years, he was a fireman and engineer and later was employed as a salesman for the Cold Spring Brewing company. He has made his home continuous in St. Cloud except for 10 years in Melrose when he was in the employ of the Great Northern.

He was a member of the Eagles and the Elks.

Sons and daughters surviving are Frances Maehren, Fergus Falls; Mrs. George Botz (Martha) St. Cloud; Mrs. Emmett Grinager (Marie), Clear Lake; Mrs. Patrick Maehren (Verena), St. Cloud; Mrs. Edward Prenevost (Adelaide); and Mrs. Stephen Masica (Carolyn), Minneapolis; Otto Maehren, St. Cloud; Nester, Austin; Sylvester, St. Paul.

He leaves two sisters Mrs. Eva Schmitt and Minerva in Fergus Falls; 280 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Angels Church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Friends may call at the Tschumperlin-Williams Funeral Home.

Casper was born May 2, 1867 in Carver County, Minnesota to parents Herman Maehren (Germany) and Catherine Meyer (Germany). He was married to Ellen. He was a retired salesman. He was a resident of St. Cloud. He died June 9, 1949 in Doren Rest Home in Benton and was buried at the Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud. Information was supplied by Otto Maehren.
