Avon Farmer Died

Upon his return from a business trip to Minneapolis Thursday evening, Casper Maehren, of this city, received the sad news that his brother, Werner Maehren, had passed away at his home at Avon during the day. The deceased had been suffering from tuberculosis for the past two years and his death was not unexpected. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 9:00 from the Avon Catholic Church. Interment will be made in the Avon cemetery.

Werner Maehren was born January 6, 1869 in Carver County, this state. In 1875, the family moved to Stearns County, settling on a farm in Avon, where the deceased has made his home ever since. Seven years ago he was married to Miss Mary Kurtz and to them five children were born. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by four brothers and six sisters who are as follows: Casper Maehren of St. Cloud; Mathias Maehren of Avon; Mrs. Agnes Lenartz of Minot ND; Mrs. Joseph Kepper of St. Paul; Mrs. Theodore Raden of Avon; Mrs. Andrew Schneider of Cold Spring; Mrs. John Schmitt of Avon and Miss Minnie Maehren of Meire Grove.

The deceased was a member of the Minnesota German Catholic Aid Society in which organization he carried $1,000 insurance. - St. Cloud Times.

Werner was born January 8, 1864 in Minnesota to parents Herman J. Maehren (Germany) and Katherina Mayer (Germany). He was married, a farmer. He died December 14, 1910 in Avon Township, Stearns County, and was buried at Avon Catholic Cemetery. Information was supplied by Matta Maehren.
