Herman Maehren, wellknown businessman of Avon for the past 30 years died at the University hospital in Minneapolis Saturday after an illness of six months. He was 65 years of age.
Born in Carver county, Mr. Maehren came to Avon many years ago with his parents. For the past 30 years, he was in the implement business there.
Mrs. Maehren and 12 children survive - Mrs. Max Mock, Avon; Mrs. Peter Kochemba, St. Francis; Marcella, St. Cloud; Ralph, Avon; Mrs. Roman Haehn, Sauk Rapids; Jerome and Mrs. John Gallagher of Danvers; Bernice, St. Cloud; Charles, Charline, Elaine and Eileen, Avon. There are 11 grandchildren surviving and the following brothers and sisters: Matt of Avon, Casper of St. Cloud, Mrs. Rose Rodden, Avon and Mrs. Peter Schmitt, Avon.
The body was taken to the farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Max Mock of Avon, and funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Benedict Church of Avon with burial in the Avon cemetery.
Herman was born May 21, 1876 in Carver County, Minnesota to parents Herman Maehren (Germany) and Catherine (Germany). He was married to Anna Achman. His occupation was blacksmith. He was a resident of Avon. He died August 9, 1941 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis and was buried at Avon.
