"CHARLES W. MARTIN, RESIDENT OF EPHRATA Charles W. Martin, 78, of 20 Meadow Valley Road, Ephrata, died unexpectedly of natural causes Friday afternoon at Ephrata Community Hospital.
He was the husband of Lois G. Miller Martin, who survives, and Doris N. Stehman Martin, who died in 1964.
Born in Churchtown, he was the son of the late Henry S. and Mattie R. Snader Martin.
He was employed as a carpenter for Hess Home Builders of Neffsville before retiring in 1982.
Previously, he worked for various Lancaster area builders.
A member of Ephrata Mennonite Church, he was a former Sunday school teacher and served on the senior citizens activities committee.
He worked for the Civilian Public Service during the 1940s.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Jesse D., husband of Marilyn Martin of Ephrata; a brother, G. Earl Martin of Terre Hill; three sisters, Leah S. Hurst of Lititz, Lydia M., wife of Allen N. Martin of Lititz, and Edith A., wife of Harvey Gingrich of Ephrata; and seven grandchildren."
