About G. Earl Martin
Lancaster New Era (Lancaster, Pa.), December 12, 2007: "G. Earl Martin G. Earl Martin, 83, PO Box 176, Terre Hill, died at his home on Monday, December 10, 2007, of cardiac complications.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., the youngest of 14 children, he was the son of the late Henry S. and Mattie (Snader) Martin. On June 7, 1947, he was married to Arlene W. Good with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage.
In June, 1990, Earl was the recipient of one of the first successful liver transplants in Lancaster County, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Founder of his plastering company in 1954, he retired from G. Earl Martin, Inc., after more than 37 years. The company is now known as GEM Wall and Ceiling Contractors and Martin Plastering Contractors. Continuing to run errands for them until 1999, he then enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. His greatest enjoyment, however, was having his family come home to spend time.
He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster, the Friendship ABF Class, and a small group prayer fellowship.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons and two daughters, Larry, husband of Lena Mae Stoltzfus of East Earl, Linda, wife of James Kreider of Nottingham, Lonnie, husband of Marion Hess of East Earl, Lisa, wife of Jonathan Frank of East Earl, Loren, husband of Beth Anne Bucher, and Ladd, husband of Sharon Buckwalter both of Terre Hill; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Gingrich of Lititz.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and seven sisters, Carrie, Anna Weaver, Lizzie Weaver, Samuel, Mattie, Henry, Fannie, Aaron, Leah Hurst, Walter, Lydia, and Charles.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening, December 13, at 7:00 p.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church, East Earl, with the Reverend Leon Hurst and the Reverend Steve Kornbau of Downingtown officiating. The family will receive guests on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and again after the service at the Church. There will be a private interment prior to the service.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions in Earl's memory be sent to: Teen Challenge International, PO Box 98, Rehrersburg, PA 19550; Calvary Church Mission Fund, 1051 Landisville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601; or Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125."* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 10 2018, 21:57:33 UTC
