James Taylor and Martha Thompson had nine children, the few eldest not born there at Bloomsbury but most reared there:

5. George, b. 1711, m. Rachel Gibson, d. 1792, built the Taylor home Midland and had 11 sons, all but one of whom served in the Revolution.

Colonel of Orange County Militia. Fought in the Indian Wars. Burgess of Orange County, 1748-49, and 1752-58, member of Committee of Safety, 1774-75, member of convention of 1775; vestryman of Epicopal church in King George county; Clerk of Orange county for many years. He was father of ten soldiers of the Revolution, nine of whom were officers.
