Cornelius W Wohlgemuth

My beloved husband, our father and grandfather, Cornelius W. Wohlgemuth, was born to Cornelius P. Wohlgemuth and Maria Warkentin Wohlgemuth at Blumenhof, Manitoba, on November 30, 1911. He peacefully passed away on December 26, 1982. He reached the age of 71 years and 26 days. Father realized his lost condition and, upon true repentance and forgiveness of his sins, was baptized on December 4, 1935, being added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, to which he remained faithful to the end and which became especially dear to him in the latter years. On March 22, 1942, he found his life's companion in me, Minna Reimer, sharing joys and sorrows for over forty years. This union was blessed with six children. Father moved from Blumenhof to Greenland, Manitoba, in 1949. He spent most of his life as a farmer, providing well for his family materially, as well as spiritually. Father had a cheerful disposition, which won him many friends. This also revealed itself in his willingness to be of service in the community. He gave many encouragements to those he left behind, admonishing us to be faithful and to meet him in Heaven. Father's death was caused by a chronic lung disease. In the last years of his life he was in and out of the hospital many times. Though this disease caused him many trials, he bore his suffering patiently and expressed an assurance of salvation, especially in the last days of his life. We mourn, but not as those without hope. Those left to mourn his departure are: his loving wife, Minna; three sons: Milton and wife Joetta, Ste. Anne; Leon and wife Sylvia, Durban; Edgar and wife Lorraine, Ste. Anne; three daughters: Joanne, Della, and Carol, of the home; eleven grandchildren; three brothers: John Wohlgemuth, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Isaac Wohlgemuth, Blumenort; Henry Wohlgemuth, Ste. Anne; two sisters: Elizabeth, Mrs. Ed Penner, Ste. Anne; Minnie, Mrs. Frank Doerksen, Cartwright; parents-in-law, Peter and Margaret Reimer, Maplewood Manor, Steinbach; and many other relatives and friends. Father was predeceased by his parents, two brothers (one in infancy), and three sisters (one in infancy). Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, 1982, at the Greenland Church. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
