About Katharina W Wohlgemuth

Katherine Wohlgemuth, daughter of Minister Cor. P. Wohlgemuth, of Ste. Anne, Manitoba, was born February 11, 1905, at Giroux, Manitoba, and passed away March 29, 1954, at the age of 49 years 1 month, and 18 days. She gave her heart to her Saviour in her youth, and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on June 11, 1919, and remained a true sister to the end. In 1948 she suffered a stroke which completely paralyzed her right side and also her speech to a great extent. Medical aid improved her condition somewhat so that she could again walk by braces and cane, which enabled her to attend church services and go out visiting occasionally. She had to go back to the hospital from time to time for doctor's care, and also spent nearly a year in the Invalid Home at Steinbach, and some time with her sisters. After a while her condition improved enough so she could be together with her father, keeping house, preparing meals, etc. March 13, when she was hospitalized again, her condition gradually weakened and after much suffering she passed away March 29. Even with her impaired speech she told us of her assurance that she would go to a better home above, by repeatedly making statements such as, How beautiful, marvellous, bright, etc. She leaves to mourn her departure father, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. Her mother, 1 brother, and 2 sisters preceded her in death, -The Family Funeral services were held Saturday, April 3, 1954, in the Greenland Church at Ste. Anne, Man. with opening remarks and prayer by Min. Dave Penner. Min John M. Penner brought the message from 1 Cor. 15:50-57, and Psalm 116:15. Min. P. A. Penner made a German addition. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.
