About Daniel Bean, Sr.

See about possible 2 wives.
According to Sheppard, Mary (Fairfield) had at least 4 children. However, an extensive note by Sheppard indicates that much of the information on her is by deduction. The BEAN genealogy states that she married Daniel and gives her birth date incorrectly, apparently assuming that she was the first wife of Daniel. All the evidence suggest that she was his second wife, and therefore NOT the mother of all, if any, of his children. At the very least child Daniel must have been by an earlier wife.

Either Mary Fifield's birth date is in error just about everywhere or she was his second wife. The timeline does not allow for her to be the mother of Daniel Jr. and his brother John, both of whom were born in the 1680's. It is possible that she could have given birth to John in 1688 when she was 12 or 13 years old but doubtful. The other children could possibly be hers but without a record of the first wife or actual birth records of the children stating that Mary Fifield was the mother, it is impossible to conclusively say.

Daniel was of of the famous Indian Scouts of the Indian Wars of New England. In 1693, he was road surveyor for Exeter and Kingston. In 1709, he received an 80 acre land grant from Exeter, NH in the area which later became part of Kingston.

From his father-in-law, Benjamin Fifield, he inherited on-eighth interest in the Kingston Sawmill. The will is the positive proof that Daniel indeed married Mary Fifield. On May 3, 1717, Daniel conveyed his interest in the mill to his son, Daniel. William Fifield, Benjamin's father, came to America in 1634 aboard the ship "Herculoa" and took the oath of allegiance before embarkation.

Daniel and Mary were active members of the Kingston 1st Church. Daniel and Mary had four children, all born at Exeter: Daniel Bean (1685-1745), John Bean (1688-1732, Samuel Bean (1694-1737), and Mary Bean (1696-1730)
