About Elizabeth Banister
- Elizabeth Winthrop was the daughter of John Winthrop and his second wife Elizabeth Polden.
- She was born after 1596 when John emigrated to Aughadown, County Cork, Ireland. When her father John wrote his will in 1613 Elizabeth was underage and unmarried.
- She married Peregrine Banastre/Bannister
- On 26 June 1611, her father "enfeoffed Richard Aldworth of Moyalloe & Edward Povey" with a number of plowlands, with the remainder reserved for his daughters Elizabeth and Anne. On 19 October 1631 "[Peregrine] Banister & wife" conveyed their moiety of these plowlands to Thomas Coppinger
"Pardon and license of alienation to JOHN WINTHORPE, THOMAS COPPINGER" in "Manuscripts of John Lodge (1692-1774), deputy keeper of the records, Bermingham Tower, Dublin Castle ", p. 210. Vitual Record Treasury of Ireland, ref. no. NAI Lodge/18/2445. https://virtualtreasury.ie/item?isadgReferenceCode=NAI%20Lodge%2F18....
Note: This record is written as if the remainder of the 1611 enfeoffment was left to Elizabeth and Anne and their husbands, though they were not married until after 1613. The record was made in 1638 and made note of the sister's conveyance of their land in the 1630s, and so included their husbands' names.
