Born to Colonel Alexander Logan and Mary Morton (Barber). She was very involved in the Southampton community. Her first marriage was to Sydney Salisbury Breese on July 20, 1907. They divorced in 1919. She married Newell Whiting Tilton on March 29, 1921.
In 1954 she donated 187 acres on Long Island to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It is known as the Elizabeth Alexandra Morton National Wildlife Refuge (the first national wildlife refuge named for a woman) and is situated along a three-mile peninsula known as Jessup’s Neck. In 1957 she donated an additional 20 acres to The Nature Conservancy for the Wolf Swamp Preserve.
