About Francis Roland "Dod" Schafer
Francis and Ruth were married in the years on August 21, 1937 in Bay City. He was plumber, secretary, treasurer, and vice president of his family's Bay City Plumbing and Heating Company. He became vice-president, partner and co-owner of Schafer's Bay City Plumbing and Heating Contracting Company. Francis was a member of the Bay City Lodge 88 BPOE (Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks), the Elk's Retirees, the Bay City Country Club, the Bay City Plumbing & Heating Association, the Bay City Players, and the Long Bayou Social Association of Florida. He was a former member of the Bay City Chamber of Commerce, the Parent Teachers Association, the Central High Booster Club, and the Baytown Dancers. He was interested in sports and sport events, and was an ardent hunter and fisherman at his cottage at Higgins Lake in Roscommon County. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, three grandsons, two granddaughters, and two brothers. Francis and Ruth attended the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City
