About Harriet N. Schafer

Harriet and Roland married November 29, 1906 in Bay City in a Thanksgiving Day wedding at high noon by Minister of the Woodside Avenue M.E. Church. They and their family then lived in Bay City for many years. Harriet died in 1933 at the age of 50. She was a member of the Woodside Avenue (M.E.) Methodist Episcopal Church and of the Maccabees. She was survived by her husband, five children, her mother, four sisters and one brother.

Bay City Times April 17, 1933 Mrs. R.H. Schafer Dies Suddenly At Home Wife of Local Plumber Succumbs After Short Illness Sunday Evening Mrs. Ronald H. Schafer, 49, well-known Bay City resident died suddenly at 8 p.m. Sunday at her home, 1425 North Trumbull street. Mrs. Schafer was born in Bay City Aug. 10, 1883, and had been a resident here throughout her life. She was a member of the Woodside Avenue M.E. church and of the Maccabees. Surviving are her husband, Ronald H. Schafer; five children, Herbert, Vaughan, Francis, Roland, Jr. and Jack all at home; her mother Mrs. Anna Johnston; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Martin, Mrs. L.J. Warren, Mrs. E. Weaver, all of Bay City, and Mrs. Robert Landis, Flint; and one brother, Edgar Johnston, Detroit. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. George Smith and the Rev. Fred Bircham Smith jointly officiating. Internment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery.
