George Brewer named ten children in his will, but which of his two wives were mother to each is not certain.

The birth order of his children is also not known and there is no evidence in his will that they were mentioned in order by their ages.
It is likely that the older sons George (b. by 1707), John, Howell and William (likely at least age 16 by 1736), sons Lanier and Nicholas (names associated with the Lanier Family) and daughter Sarah (married by 1741) were children of George Brewer's first wife, Sarah Lanier.
The will also mentions "all my younger children that it hath praised God to give me by her (his wife Asice) during her life..."
I suspect, although it is not certain, that the "younger children" (children of second wife Alice) are the sons Oliver, Henry and Nathaniel, each of who received land (the older sons did not receive land and were certainly already established with property). Henry, Nathaniel and Oliver each also received a gun (the older, independent sons would have already owned their own gun).

WEIGHING THE EVIDENCE of the geographical locations of John I, John II, John III, and George Brewer bc1670 as follows: Their 1600s primary location was called Stanley Hundred, VA. Several references to Stanley Hundred give a county called Warwick, VA, one of the original shires of Virginia Colony. Warwick was a river off of the James River where Ft. Eustis is located today on what is called the Peninsula(Newport News). Stanley Hundred is identified today by a historical marker at Stanley Hundred, 256-284 Enterprise Dr Newport News, VA 23603 View on Google Maps It is 1/2 of a mile north of the Ft. Eustis Gate which is closer to Skiffes Creek. Warwick River lies on the south side of Ft. Eustis. George Brewer's home before marriage was at the family's plantation called Stanley's Hundred or Brewer's Burrough and his land in Warwick was adjacent to that of Colonel Miles Cary and Thomas Reade.
John Brewer I died in Virginia in 1635 and his widow soon afterwards married Rev. Thomas Butler "Clark and Parson of Denbie", or later Warwick County. Go to Rev. Thomas Butler, of Denbigh for the best documentation of all ot the above. (In 1968 I lived in the town of Denbigh, pronounced Denbie, by the Warwick R.) Thomas Butler died in 1637. John III's brother Thomas inherited 1000 acres of Butler property somewhere up on the south bank of the James River in what is now Surry County. Later the Thomas line was found in Surry County, VA and finally in Halifax County, NC before rejoining their cousins in Chatham circa 1770-90. There are many mentions of property given to George's sons and daughters in his will. They were close together, ranging from the Rattlesnake Ck to the southeast of the town of Brunswick, VA running over to Fountain Ck and Hwy. 627 by the Pine Log Road a couple miles inside the county of Isle of Wight at the time of the will and was therefore adjacent to Brunswick County. Currently Fountain Creek by Pine Log Road is in Greenville County, VA, no longer being Isle of Wight. I found all these in a few minutes on Google Maps. References listed under George Brewer 1670-1744 show his history beginning with his marriage to Sarah Lanier. RE: " "Lanier by Louise Ingersoll, "Prince George County, Virginia Wills and Deeds 1713-1728 by Benjamin B. Weisiger III, "Magazine of Virginia Genealogy" Volume 24, May 1988, Number 2 Prince George Co, Virginia Court Orders & Returns of Executions 1714-1720. Genealogy, "Brunswick Co, Virginia Will Book no. 2 with inventories & Accounts 1739 -1750." There, can be seen court records for George from 1713-28 in Prince George County across the James River from Charles City where Sarah Lanier was from. It seems that after 1728 and Sarah's death, George and his new wife Alice moved to the new county of Brunswick, VA which had been cut out of Isle of Wight County. If George was an only son as some believe, the descendants of John III (George) then moved away from Stanley Hundred after his father's death by 1705 and his marriage to Sarah Lanier close to 1705. That would then put them in Prince George County, VA followed by Isle of Wight/Brunswick.
