Funeral services were held at Flohr’s Lutheran church, Friday afternoon, for Hanson Charles “Jack” Deardorff, 45, of near Cashtown, who died at the Warner hospital, Tuesday evening, of a streptococci sore throat. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mr. Deardorff was a lumberman and fruit grower and was the oldest son of the late Charles and Margaret (Shultz) Deardorff. He was born in Franklin township. Mr. Deardorff, known among his friends as “Jack”, left December 1 for Renova, Pa, to hunt deer and on December 2 he went hunting with his party. That evening he complained of being ill. He was treated by a Renova physician and the following Friday he returned home. He reported at that time that he felt better. On December 8 he was again stricken and complained of a sore throat. On December 13 he was admitted to the local hospital. The deceased is survived by his mother, his widow, the former Frances E Shank, of near Waynesboro; five daughters, Margaret, Marion, Minta, Helen, Alma at home. Four sons survive, Allen, Earle, Warren and Charles, all at home. Four brothers, Paul, near Orrtanna; Theodore, Orrtanna, and five sisters, Miss Blanche Deardorff, Orrtanna; Mrs. Lawrence Kimple, Buchanan Valley; Mrs. John Helm, of York; Mrs. Clarence Wolf, Two Taverns and Mrs. Robert Tipton, York.
