Hilda Ellen Sacarias was born in Calumet, Michigan on April 4, 1901, the daughter of Leo and Maria Elki. When Hilda was a small girl the Elki family moved to North Dakota and made their home in Wilton and Arena until 1919 when they moved to Menaga, Minnesota. Hilda was employed in Hibbing, Minnesota. On August 6, 1922 she was united in marriage to John Sacarias. Mr. and Mrs. Sacarias made their home in Hibbing and Chisholm, Minnesota until 1944 when they came to Alexandria, Minnesota, later purchasing a home on Oscar Lake which was their residence until John passed away April 1, 1959. For four years she made her home with her sister Hilma in Moe Township and the past eight years she has been a resident of Alexandria.

She passed away at the Douglas County Hospital on Saturday, April 24, 1971 at the age of 70 years. She is survived by six sisters: Mrs. Lempi Koskela of Minneapolis; Helmie (Mrs. Emmanuel Lidberg) of Aitkin, Minnesota; Hulda (Mrs. Walter Josephson) of Holmes City, Minnesota; Hazel (Mrs. Edwin Kvitek) of Lowry, Minnesota; Hilma (Mrs. Roy Pipo) of Kensington, Minnesota; Mrs. Tina Enberg of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 27th at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minnesota; at 2 p.m. at the Finnish Apostolic Luth. Church, Moe Twp. Rev. Harvey Isaacs of Sebeka, Minnesota officiating. Pallbearers were Edwin Kitek, Walter Josephson, Emmanual Lidberg, John Hulkonen, Roy Pipo, Clifford Haabala. Interment was at Finnish Apostolic Cemetery, Moe Twp.
