Funeral services for Hulda Esther Josephson were held at the Finnish Apostolic Church in Moe Township on October 9, 1995 with Rev. Ray Kovala officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery with Steve Josephson, Michael Miner, Sam Anderson, Matthew Kangas, Gregory Olson and Raymond Josephson Jr. serving as pallbearers.
On May 19, 1908, a daughter Hulda Esther was born to Leo and Mary Elke in Burleigh County, North Dakota. As a youngster she moved with her family to the Wolf Lake, Minnesota area where she grew up and attended school. Prior to her marriage, Hulda worked as waitress in Eveleth and Virginia. Hulda married Walter Josephson on September 24, 1924 at Alexandria. The couple made their home on a farm in the Holmes City area. For a short time during the 1940s the family resided in Duluth before returning to Kensington. Hulda was employed at Bethany Home as a nurse's aide for over 20 years prior to their retirement in the early 1970s. Hulda enjoyed a variety of interests including rug weaving, making quilts and working on jigsaw puzzles, but she had a special love of cooking.
Hulda died at her home near Kensington on October 5, 1995, at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband Walter Josephson of Kensington; children: Ray and wife Barbara Josephson of Kensington; Roger Josephson of Alexandria; Russell and wife Beverly Josephson of Drayton, ND; Lily Olson of Brandon; Linda and husband Dale Miner of Coon Rapids; Shirley and husband Richard Dennis of Timberville, VA; Norma and husband Verle Anderson of Elk River; Josie and husband Jack Kangas of Kensington; Rosie and husband Phil Kangas of Alexandria; four sisters: Helma Lidberg of Aitkin; Hazel Kvitek of Lowry; Hilma Pipo of Kensington; Tina Enberg of Alexandria; 29 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
