Battle of Narva at [http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Narva_(1700)]
The Tiesenhausen Regiment was known by its name in Swedish "Kavalleri-regemente i Ingermanland, Estland och Lifland, äfven kalladt Unga Drottingens Lifregemente till häst". The Regiment was lead by Colonel Tiesenhausen and was recruited from Estonia and Livonia during the Great Northern War 1700-1721.
In 1703-1709 the Tiesenhausen Regiment or its assigned dragoon sub-units operated in Karelia. In 1709 the Regiment was moved to Talinn, Estonia.
Jöran (Jürgen) Bamberg married Elisabeth Andersdottir Neiglick in Kitee (Kidhes) in Karelia 1704.
Marriage: http://hiski.genealogia.fi/hiski/33flmo?fi+0208+vihityt+198
Jöran and Elisabeth got five childred: Anna Lijinskin (born in 1704), Anders (born in 1712), Joakim (born in 1728), Carin and Georgius. More children is possible to find in ´´ buried´´- files of Kitee.
After the Great Northern War since 1722 Jürgen (Jöran) Bamberg served as an "utryttare, a riding civil servant" in Kitee assisting the local "länsman, a sheriff" to run the public administration locally.
M-L Sointula :
It´s possibly to identify him in Swedish Army rolls. He was a dragon in´´ Hoch Wohlgeboren Herrn Baron und Obristen Hans Hindrich von Tiesenshausens Regiment Zu Pherde ´´ KraA ( SVAR). That Regiment called even ´´ Ung drottningens Livregement till häst´´. The original material is written in German. His name was written in form Jürgen Bamberg. Possibly he was born in Livonia.
According a family legend from Russia: He was a Swedish soldier and worked also in a Russian army´´. It is possible to find another Bambergs in the Russian military Records and in area of old Livonia / in old Swedish military material, too. An academic, Russian professional historian has been in contact to several archives in Russia. They can´t recognise Jürgen/ Jöran Bamberg any known name version in their files. But it is possible to identify an other Bamberg in Russian military archives.( 2006 )
According a Finnish family legend Jöran Jöransson Bamberg, as his name is written in Finnish records, was supposed to have roots in family von Brandenburg. Some Dna results of descendants support connection.( 2012 ) More dna contacts found 2014.
His descendants has been moved from Finland to Russia, Sweden, Netherland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Britain,China, Chile, the Usa....and some even back to Finland or Russia.
I wonder if there´s a connection between Estonian, Finnish and Swedish Bamberg- families in 1600- tale ? Some blood group similarities give a possibility to that.
Suvun juurista on olemassa koko ajan lisääntyvää dna tietoa. Testatut henkilöt kertovat tuloksistaan kutsutuille suvun jäsenille tulevissa sukukokouksissa. Osalla Dna- testatuista jälkeläisistä on löytynyt yhteys sukuun Brandenburg. (heinäkuu 2012)

Main problem is the time of the Great Northern War 1700- 1721 ( Russia, Poland, Kurland, Livonia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark etc ) : a big part of church books destroyed, part was not kept because there were no priest.
Both Russia and Sweden has thousands of foreign recruited professional military persons./ Military archives in Sweden and in Russia.
