On July 14, 1909, widow Janet "Jessie" (Barr) Semple, age 83, died in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Her grave is in the Stonehouse Old Cemetery, marked on the same gravestone that has the inscription relating to her husband William. Her name, being given as Jessie Barr, is in keeping with the Scottish tradition of identifying females by their maiden name. Her son, John Semple, is the informant to her death. Records noted that she just died of "old age".
