Henry Barr Semple (a) was born in April 1849 at Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland, a son of William Peter and Janet (Barr) Semple.
In their Semple family, Henry was the brother of John Semple (1846-1922); Thomas Semple (1848-1858); William Semple (1848-1877); Peter Semple (1852-1908); James Semple (1854-1911); Robert Semple (1855-1948); Isabella (Semple) Ralston (1857-1936); Thomas Semple (1859-1889); Margaret (Semple) Melvin (1861-1890); Janet (Semple) Marchbank (1863-1932); Jane (Semple) Marchbank (1865-1933); Agnes (Semple) Melvin (1867-1925) and Elizabeth (Semple) Hepburn (1869-1911).
On 31 Dec 1869, Henry Barr Semple married Jeanie "Janet" (Stewart) Semple (1849-1925). They were parents of nine children including William Semple (1871-1944); Jane Campbell (Semple) Whitelaw (1872-1953); Janet (Semple) Lang (1876-1953); John Semple (1879-1941); Henry Semple, Sr (1881-1953); Marion (Semple) Mauchline (1883-1955); Thomas Semple (1886-1953); Agnes Nancy (Semple) Haddon (1889-1974) and Isabella "Isabel" Semple (1891-1969).
In Jan 1871, Henry Semple, a coal miner at age 20, is living with his wife, Janet age 21, and son, William age 1 month old, at Kirk St, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Henry worked as a coal miner, later as a coal pit Overman (supervisor), from 1857 to 1913.
In 1912, Henry Semple and his family emigrated from Larkhall, Scotland to Arrow Park, Arrow Lakes, British Columbia, Canada.
On 1 January 1918, Henry Semple, age 68, died at 1:45 p.m in Arrow Park, Arrow Lakes District, B. C., Canada, informed by William Mauchline (son-in-law) of Arrow Park with arrangements by undertaker Mr E. Somers. He was buried at 2 p.m. on 4 January 1918 in Glenbank Cemetery, Nakusp, B. C., Canada.
