William Semple married Janet Hamilton (1851-1919). He is the father of William Semple (1874-1959).
On June 4, 1877 at age 28, William Semple, coal miner, died at 7:30 am from the cause of heart disease, for year and half, and dropsy, for 6 months, as certified by Dr. Alex Rae, Surgeon, in Swinhill, Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. His brother, Henry Semple, was informant on record of his death.
