About Jessie Irena Harter
The Emanuel Harter Family, p. 16:
She was an elocutionist of merit and when the school literary society met she was always called on for a recitation which she gave with dramatic effect. On winter days it was the custom for teachers and pupils of district schools to take sleigh rides to visit other schools. Various pupils were called upon to provide entertainment and it was a foregone conclusion that Jessie would recite one of the lengthy poems she had memorized.
After Bruce died in 1906, Jessie returned to Illinois and was employed in a piano store in Rockford until her death. Both are buried in Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
