  2. George Hayward (1673 - 1725)*
  3. Judith Hayward Goss (1675 - 1748)*
  • Mayflower Families Through Five Generations v. 13. 3rd ed., William White, at p.12 reports John's birthdate at 20 December 1640, not 20 October of that year. If the birthdate you report is based on a record using numerical equivalents for months (e.g., 10th month), your interpretation of that date may be in error. (See http://mayflowerhistory.com/newsblog). As I understand it, prior to the 1750s, the calendar year in America began on March 1 and ended at the end of February. Thus, a reference to the 10th month of 1640 would refer to December, not October. Correction to my previous message: the "old" calendar year started on March 25, not March 1. For a more detailed description of the 1752 calendar changes, see http://www.ctstatelibrary.org/node/2218
