Hayden's Virginia Genealogies, p. 354: It is noted here that John West of Loudoun County, Virginia, in applying for a pension in 1833, had as his identifying witness a brother, James West, of Chester County, Pennsylvania, who said they were nephews of Benjamin West, artist. This might easily be, because there were said to be ten children in the family of the artist and there must be many descendants of his brothers who are unrecorded in any book. This John West, of Loudoun County, according to his pension application, was born Nov. 7, 1753, in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Revolutionary Army near Philadelphia. After the war, he married Hannah -, Oct. 24, 1791, in Loudoun County, Virginia. They were the parents of:
The father, John West, died Dec. 17, 1835. Hannah, his wife, died in 1853. One of her sons-in-law was Mr. Orrisan.
