Joshua Beal

Joshua Beal. Born in 1633 in England.45 Joshua died ca 1717.45. He was the son of John Beal & Nazareth Hobart.

Joshua’s first wife’s name was Elizabeth. He married second Mary (Farrow) Stowell, widow of Samuel Stowell.

Ca 1660 Joshua first married Elizabeth.45 Elizabeth died in Hingham, MA on 12 Jan 1689.45

Children of Joshua and Elizabeth Beal, born in Hingham:

• i. a daughter, b. 4 Dec 1661, d. young;
• ii. Elizabeth, b. 23 May 1663, d. June 1663;
• iii. a son, b. 25 Jan 1664/5, d. 9 Apr 1665;
• iv. another son, b. 13 Jul 1668, d. 18 Jul 1668; and
• v. Abigail, b. 26 Apr 1671.45

[10] Apr 1689 Joshua second married Mary Farrow (2647) , daughter of John Farrow (1187) (ca 1608-7 Jul 1687) & Frances (-28 Jan 1688/9), in Hingham, MA.16 Born ca 1633 in Hingham, Norfolk. Mary was baptized in Hingham, Norfolk, on 22 Sep 1633.16 Mary died in Hingham, MA on 24 Oct 1708.88

Mary first married Samuel Stowell, second Joshua Beal as his second wife.

Mary came to Hingham, MA, with her parrents in 1635.42

Joshua, “Selectman 1669, 1671, 1677, 1679, 1686, 1691, 1694, and 1699; Representative in 1700. In his will, dated 25 Jan. 1715-16, gives legacies to Ruth Gannett, ‘that was formerly my servant;’ ‘to cousin Joshua Beal, the son of my brother Caleb; to grandchildren Samuel, David, Jonathan, Daniel, Elizabeth, Mercy, and Hannah French;’ and ‘all the remainder of my estate to my two children Stephen French and Abigail French.’ For many yrs. he had charge of, and received compensation ‘for maintaining the drum.’ Resided on Fort Hill St., on land given him by the town "to set a house upon."
