Aunt Kate was born in England, and came over with her mother at an early age.

Immigrated to USA May 1, 1885 aboard the Inman Line's "City of Rome" from Liverpool to New York. Passengers were Alice Lukes 42, Alice 15, Keturah 7, and Rosina 4.

Dave and Eva Lewis built a house for her.

Monday, March 26, 1962 -- Mrs. Kate Yaffee, age 84, died early Sunday morning, March 25, at her home, 207 C Avenue West. She was born January 7, 1878 in England, the daughter of Luke and Alice Martin Lukes, and was a member of the Rebekah lodge. Services will be Tuesday, March 27, at 3:30pm at the First Christian church, with burial at Forest Cemetery. Rev. Richard Goins will officiate withe the Newman funeral chapel in charge of arrangements. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Dave L. Lewis of San Juan, Texas; one granddaughter, and three great grandchildren.
