About Louis Harold Warren Midson
Louis Harold Warren Midson was born in 1899 and married Myrtle Emma Bell in 1921. Warren was very keen to get his start in life as a farmer and went to Grenfell in his late teens where he managed "Patoa" for the Bembrick family. Immediately after his marriage he purchased a 60 acre property at Oakville via Riverstone where he planted an orchard of citrus and stone fruit. Their home was originally completed in timber but in 1958 it was partially clad with fibro. A horse and sulky was used until 1932 after which a motor car was used. Warren engaged in farming which included citrus and summer fruits, growing crops such as peas, beans, corn, lucerne and sorgham. Some horse breeding was followed by milking and beef cattle. Later on mushrooms were cultivated. Warren always had a reputation for producing quality produce. He was secretrary of the Parents' and Citizens' Association for a time., worked for the Progress Association and was a member of the Methodist Church Trust. He was also an alderman on Windsor Municipal Council. Warren trained in the light horse for the 1914/18 War but did not see active service due to the conclusion of the war.
