About Gladys Lillian Hodder (Midson)
Gladys Lillian Midson or "Nick" as she was called by the family was born in 1892 and in 1925 married Gordon Hodder who came from New Zealand. Early in their married life the couple moved to Lismore where Gordon served as one of the original patrolmen with the N.R.M.A.. He was transferred to Sydney and after "more time on the road" was employed in the office. He was reported to be an excellent motor cycle rider who had a long safety record to his credit. Being an excellent mechanic he had plenty of opportunities to use his skills with the limited amount of equipment available in the sidecar of his N.R.M.A. cycle. In Sydney they lived in a three bedroom brick cottage at 124 Burwood Road, Concord.

Gladys was cremated at the Rookwood Cemetery and her ashes were interred in the Field of Mars Cemetery, Epping.
Gordon was born to Georgina Hodder in the Sydney Benevolent Asylum in 1893; she was just over 17 y.o. She & Gordon emigrated to Auckland NZ in 1894; her mother, Georgina, and father, John, and her 9 siblings followed, emigrating to Auckland in 1899.
Gordon went through an acrimonious divorce from Evelyn Smith in 1919. It is thought that Gordon met Gladys onboard a ship returning from Norfolk Island via Auckland sometime around 1923.
