Inscriptions on gravestones at the Charlestown Presbyterian graveyard four miles north of Valley Store (Warren /Tavern P.O.) Chester County PA
In another row in the same graveyard. (Charlestown) beginning at the north end of the row are the following four graves:
- "William Bodley, Died Jan. 11th, 1834, aged 30 years"
- "James Bodley, Died Sept. 27th, 1826, aged 56 years"
- "Sarah Bodley, Died Oct 17th, 1821, aged 48 years"
- "In memory of Elizabeth, wife of Andrew Todd who departed this life July 8th, 1773 [1775], aged 52 years"
The figure 5 in the above inscription is worn and it may be a 3 or a 6 or a figure8. This is no doubt the grave of the wife of Andrew Todd, half-brother of Robert, the patriarch, who be it known was a certain widow lady named McDowell
The following inscriptions are from the Providence Presbyterian churchyard, four miles south of Trappe, Montgomery County, Pa. beginning at the north end of the row:
- "In memory of Major William Bodley, who departed this life Dec 4th, 1780, in the 34th year of his age"
The above was probably the father of James and Sarah Bodley, and grandfather of William Bodley, all buried in the Charlestown graveyard
