Mary Brownrigg

Mary Alcock was the firstborn of Army Capt. Michael Alcock and Martha Sloper. She was born about 1733 in Ireland. On 5 Oct. 1753, at the age of 20, she married Henry Brownrigg, then a major in the British Army whose family also had roots in Ireland. They had six children, including two who would become army generals.

Mary and her husband Henry were named executors in the will of her father in 1756, but a codicil in 1758 withdew their appointments in favor of a "trusted" woman friend.

Mary outlived her husband and two of her sons before she died in 1819 at the age of 86.
