MARY TULLAR KENNAN
Mary was the daughter of Capt. Chester Tullar and his wife, Eudotia Cooke. She was married 20 Feb. 1817, Bangor, Franklin Co., NY, to George Kennan, son of Rev. Thomas Kennan and his wife, Sarah Lathrop. They were married by George's father, Rev. Kennan.
Mary and George lived in Bangor, NY for about seven years before moving to Morristown, St. Lawrence Co., NY. The land they purchased was in the wilderness about two miles from the St. Lawrence River. A house and barn were built and with long, hard work, the land was cleared for farming. They lived there for about 12 years before moving to Macomb Township where George had a saw mill and farmed as well.
They sold their property in 1850 and moved to Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI. Mary died there in 1866 and was buried at the cemetery in Neenah, WI. In a few years, George went to live with their son, Thomas Lathrop Kennan, in Portage, Columbia Co., WI. He died there in 1876 and was buried next to Mary at the cemetery in Neenah.
