Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ingram-1738
When Mary Ingram was born in 1745[1], in Springfield Plantation, Johnston, North Carolina, her father was Richard Ingram and mother was Ann Moon. She married John Rains and they had one child together in 1767. John signed the Regulator Petition that was sent to the Royal Governor, Lord William Tryon. John was killed in the Regulator War of 1771, at the age of 30. The Johnston Riot Act of 1771 was passed to destroy the Regulator movement. After her husband's death, Mary married Captain Thomas Lee. Henry Rains left North Carolina about 1780, for what became Tennessee, with his mother, Mary Ingram, and his stepfather Captain Thomas Lee.
Capt. Thomas and Mary Ingram Rains Lee had several children together between 1773 and 1794. Mary died on March 3, 1821, in Hawkins County, Tennessee. Henry Rains settled on what was then Indian land in the Yellow Creek Valley before 1790. Henry Rains' children married into the Turner, Marsee, Denny, Davis, King, Kellems and Lane families. Henry Rains' descendants are still in the Yellow Creek Valley, in what is now Middlesboro, Kentucky. [2]
On 5 Dec 1780 in Johnston County, North Carolina, (her father) Richard Ingram wrote his will which was recorded February 1781. He leaves to his daughter, Mary Lee, two negroes.[3][4]
In a suit filed in Chancery Court, Hawkins Co., Tenn., 23 May 1823, the nine heirs of Mary Lee were named: Henry Rains and the last eight children of Thomas Lee (i.e, those children by Mary Ingram) Needham Lee Sr., John Lee, Winifred Lee, Zilpha Lee, William Lee, Edward Lee, James Lee and Mary Lee. The phrase "'last eight children"' gives credence to the belief that Thomas was married more than once.
