About Mercy Burrell
Samuel Allen, III did not marry Mercy Burrell. There are no known records showing Joseph Alden with a daughter Mary or showing Samuel Allen marrying Mary Alden, while the available evidence points to Mary Pratt as the second wife of Samuel Allen. "Mary Alden" may not have existed.
Mercy Alden was born probably at Bridgewater say 1669 or earlier (married 1688); died after 28 July 1727 (husband's will). She was the daughter of Joseph Alden and Mary Simmons, and a descendant of Mayflower passengers John and Priscilla Alden, and of Peter Browne.

Disputed Identity
Mary Alden who married Samuel Allen is disproven; she never existed.
See: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Alden-92
So this profile is for the real person, MERCY Alden, who married John Burrell.
The 2002 edition of the Alden Silver Book specifically addresses the addition of a daughter for Joseph Allen named "Mary." The claim is that she was the wife of Samuel Allen, but Samuel's wife has been proven to be a different woman, named "Mary Pratt."[9]

"A Genealogical Letter from John4 Alden", in Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants. Mayflower Descendant: An Illustrated Quarterly Magazine of Pilgrim Genealogy, History and Biography, 6:110. No daughters mentioned in the will of Joseph Alden so this letter written by grandson of Joseph is the basis for identifying Mercy as Joseph's daughter. "Two of the daughters married into the family of Snow of Bridgewater - the other married a Burrill of Weymouth".

- SAMUEL 5 ALLEN He married (2) 1700 to Mary...Re: Mary. Cutter says Mary Alden, daughter of Joseph Alden and Mary Simmons. (1). Torrey, who is more reliable, indicates she could have been a Pratt.
Some sources assign an eighth child to this family, Mary Alden. So far, no contemporary seventeenth or eighteenth century sources have been cited for this child.[4] [3]
(Descendant of Mayflower passengers John and Priscilla Alden and Peter Browne.)

Yes, Joseph is the father of Mary Alden. And John Alden and Priscilla Mullins are the parents of Joseph. I have confirmation through DNA and various records. If you would like more thorough information, you can always contact the Alden Kindred of America. They have tons of information on the different lines and can help sort out any mis-information you may have.

Parents:
Mary Alden Allen descended from Joseph Alden Joseph Alden
and John Alden John Alden
( NEW DNA EVIDENCE CLAIMS MARY IS INDEED A ALDEN DESCENDANT)
There are arguments she was an Alden as well as arguments that she was a Pratt. I am linking my tree to her being an Alden because that is what the records my family has passed down.
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=whuber&id... There is a dispute as to Mary Alden's lineage. She is not recognized by the Alden Society as being the daughter of Joseph Alden and Mary Simmons. It is believed by some that her name was in fact Mary Alden, and she was either adopted or raised by the Pratt's. Some authorities say that she is the daughter of deaf parents named Pratt. However, there are authorities who state she is in fact a daughter of Joseph Alden and his wife Mary Simmons, including some histories of the Mayflower Families. The writings of the Allen Family considered her to be a blood relative of the Aldens According to "A Genealogical History of the Jennings Family" by William Henry Jennings, he states that Mary Alden Allen is in fact the granddaughter of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins. Ebenezer Alden who wrote the "Memorial of the Descendants of the Hon. John Alden" in 1867, lists Mary Alden as a daughter of Joseph Alden and granddaughter of John Alden and the wife of Samuel Allen, married in 1700. He lists their children as Joseph b. 1701, Benjamin b 1702, Mary b 1704, Rebecah b 1706, Matthew b 1708, Seth b. 1710, and Abigail b. not listed.
