Biography

Mercy Phinney was born in Barnstable, Plymouth Colony 10 July 1679, the daughter of John and Mary (Rogers) Finney/Phinney.[1][2][3]

She married Eleazer Crocker at Barnstable on 26 January 1715 as his second wife.[4] He was the son of William and Alice (Unknown) Crocker, born Barnstable 21 July 1650.[5] His first wife was Ruth Chipman whom he married on 7 April 1682 in Barnstable, the mother of all the children named in his estate settlement except daughter Mercy.[3]

Eleazer died in Barnstable before 6 September 1723 when his estate was inventoried.[6] Mrs. Mery (sic) Crocker of Barnstable was appointed guardian to Mercy, the minor daughter of Eleazer deceased, on 26 September 1723. Eleazer's estate was settled on 19 November 1724 with two shares to eldest son Nathan and single shares to his other children, Theophilus, Able and Eleazer Crocker, Bethia Whiteing, Sarah Bursley, Ruth Fuller, Rebacca Robins, and youngest daughter Mercy aged under 18. The widow Mercy's dower right was reserved. On 8 July 1731 Isaac Hinkly of Barnstable was appointed as daughter Mercy Crocker's guardian.[7]

She probably died between 19 November 1724 (date of the division of Eleazer's property) and 8 July 1731 (date of assignment of Isaac Hinkly as daughter Mercy's guardian).[7]

Child probably born Barnstable:[6][3]
