Biography ==Mercy Chipman, born 6 Feb 1667/68 at Barnstable, Massachusetts, was the daughter of John Chipman and Hope Howland.<ref>Chipman, Bert Lee. The Chipman Family, a genealogy of the Chipmans in America, 1631-1920. Bert L. Chipman, Publisher. Winston-Salem, N.C. 1920. pg. 14</ref> Mercy married Nathaniel Skiff 13 Dec 1699 at Sandwich, Massachusetts. The ceremony was solemnized by Stephen Skiff, Esq., Justice of the Peace. Nathaniel Skiffe was born 16 May 1658 at Sandwich, Massachusetts, and died 19 Feb 1724/25 at Chilmark, Massachusetts. Mercy died 12 Jun 1724 at Chilmark, Dukes, Massachusetts.<ref>VitalRecords of Chilmark, Massachusetts to the Year 1850, page 94, referencing a gravestone record</ref>
