About Mrs. Eliza Pahgahkahmokwe Menominee
Mrs. Eliza Menominee (born King c1849) is listed as # 1624 on the 1907 Wooster Roll where she is identified as the sister of Jonas King # 1617. Her recorded traditional name "Pahgahkahmokwe" was translated on the roll as "Coming woman" but that translation requires scrutiny and comment by a person with expertise in the Anishinaabemowin language and Potawatomi culture.
Ancestry.com also identifies "Pahgahkahmokwe" as the daughter of Beshigob and his wife Charlotte Assance. http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/beshigob_161580591.
In 1907 when Mrs. Eliza Menominee was age 58 she was a resident of the District of Parry Sound, Ontario but not Parry Island Indian Reserve. There are several First Nations communities and a village called Parry Sound in the District of Parry Sound so the Wooster Roll does not identify the community where Mrs. Eliza Menominee was residing as of 1907. Mrs. Eliza Menominee held NO rights in Canada.
