About Myron Lyle Johnson
Myron L. Johnson was born on May 28, 1918 to Harry M. Johnson and Elva (Mott) Johnson. He attended Pontiac schools. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps serving as a 2nd Lieutenant, a navigator on the B-17 aircraft, "the Fast Woman". He was shot down during the war, loosing a leg, and becoming a prisoner of war. Following his return to the U.S., he married Dorothy Louise Byrne, on February 28, 1946 in Monticello, Indiana. He was the Business Administrator of the Illinois State Penitentiary and retired from that position about 1980. He died February 28, 1994 after battling cancer for a number of years.
He was survived by his wife, Dorothy, four sons, Lyle Johnson, Streator; Clifton Johnson, Cornell; BruceJohnson, Corpus Christi, Texas; and John Johnson, Pontiac; grandchildren, Melinda Osborne, Brian Johnson, Jared Johnson and Logan Johnson and great-grandchildren, Kevin, Hollie and Madison.
Myron was an avid fisherman, gardener and loved competing with his brothers at finding morel mushrooms in the Spring.
