About Nancy James
1855 - as per her father's Will, Nancy received two negros named Siney and Isaac.
Would this be Isaac? I think so. Choctaw Freedmen card #828 for Lillie Jeffries-Shoals She testified that she was 26 yrs old and the daughter of Isaac James and Maria Maytubby. That Isaac James belonged to Rese Jones a Choctaw. That Maria Maytubby was a states woman. Isaac James (the father) testified that he was a slave that belonged to Nancy James. He was never married to Maria Maytubby. Maria's husbands name is Isam. That Maria is alive and living in Jackson County near Lake West. He admits that he is the father of Lillie. Isaac James can be found on card #640 right next to David James.
Genforum Re: BENCH cemetery Posted: 3 Aug 2005 8:37PM Classification: Query Hello BeeG --My grandmother, Kizzie (James) married Benjamin Battiest, her sister Nancy James married Christopher Bench, a brother of Tuck Bench. Tuck has two surviving children that I know of, Von Marie and Paul. It's possible they might know of the Bench cemetery.I do not have their address at present. I remember the Bench community well. But have no knowledge of a cemetery. I will be glad to help you any way I can.--Alto Battiest* Updated from RootsWeb's WorldConnect via father Benjamin James , Jr. by SmartCopy: Mar 3 2015, 0:20:14 UTC
