About Rita Guindon
Rita E. Commet, 82 years, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, at Toledo Hospital. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Thursday, from 2-9 PM. She will lie in state Friday, at St. Joseph's Church, Ida, from 10 AM until the Mass of Ressurection at 11 AM. Rev, Dr. Michael Woroniewicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ida.
Born March 25, 1929, in Cornell, MI, she was the daughter of Onesime "Jim" and Eva (Brunette) Guindon. She married Edward J. Commet June 3, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church, Ida. He died February 14, 1985. A homemaker, Rita loved wood crafting and enjoyed going to craft shows, and was an avid fan of country music. She also was a volunteer for nursing homes in the Escanaba area, helping care for the elderly.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert (Julie), and Donald (Vickie); two daughters, Sharon (Doug) Welker, and Brenda Winters; brothers Leonard and Lionel Guindon; sisters, Helen Manard, Evelyn Cass, Bertha Blevens; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; a daughter, Rose Hunt, a brother Hector Guindon, and sisters, Prudence Van Mill, Jeanette Swift, Marie Hill, and Agnes McComb.
