Sarah Fagan

      Sarah Berwin Fagan (1870 St. Louis-1933 St. Louis)

Sarah was born in 1870 to Dora Block Schwarzkopf Berwin and Samuel Berwin in St. Louis Missouri.

She had a sister Agnes Berwin who never married.

She had brothers Max and Harry Berwin and half brothers Frank and Leopold Schwarzkopf. She had a sister Carrie Berwin who married Sternberg and half sisters Rosa Schwarzkopf who married Glicklich and Celia Schwarzkopf who married Adolph Fischer. These half siblings were all from Louis Schwarzkopf, Dora's first husband.

She married Mr. Fred Fagan. Julia Berwin Brockman said they had a son named Norman.

Norman was found in the 1940 Census located at 817 North 18th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, in Wyandotte County. He was recorded as being born in Missouri in 1900. His spouse was Betty, born in 1908 in Missouri. They lived in a home with a servant and two children. Their children were Berwin Fagan, born in 1935 in Missouri and Ian Fagan, born in 1938 in Missouri. Norman was a salesman in a furniture store.

Sarah was mentioned in the obituaries of her father and mother in 1913.

Both the 1910 and 1920 Federal census of St. Louis have a Fred Fagan listed.

Sarah Berwin Fagan died in St. Louis on August 15, 1933. She lived with her husband Fred at 5540 Pershing Avenue. She was buried in New Mt. Sinai.

Fred Fagan died on October 3, 1942. He lived with a second wife Amy at 6250 Enright in University City. He died in the Jewish Hospital of injuries suffered as a result of a street car accident five days previously. He was listed as an Insurance Broker, age 69, born in Austria with unknown parents (at least to the document writer).
