Virginia Chancery Records - Bedford County VA.
In 1818, George McDaniel gave William P. Jones $1500 to purchase land in Bedford, VA for the benefit of William's wife and George's granddaughter Lucy Edwards Jones. Jones bought the land, but the deed was made in the name of George McDaniel as he did not want the land to be used for the debts of William P. Jones. The land was later sold by Jones and the purchaser sued to get the deed in his name. He sued all of the heirs of George McDaniel. Those heirs all agreed that the land was meant to go to Lucy as her share of the estate.
