William Thomas Lewis was a son, born to Pvt. Thomas Lewis & his 3rd wife, Sarah Ann Hart circa 1837 at Accomack County, VA. [Note: This was Sarah Ann Hart's 1st marriage on 2/9/1837.]
William was named in his father's will on April 20, 1842 at Accomack County, VA. He was named as a son, in the will of Thomas Lewis. Note: [The will of Thomas Lewis is rather lengthy. Click on the URL at the bottom of the page to read.]
In the 1850 Census, William was listed with his parents at St. George Parish, Accomack County, VA. He was shown as William Lewis, age 13 in HH #222 Headed by Thomas Lewis, a 91 year old farmer with real estate valued at $20,000.
On November 18, 1858, he married Elizabeth West 'Betty' Bell, the daughter of Capt. Elias Bell & Polly Adams at Worcester County, MD.
The known children of William Thomas Lewis & Elizabeth West 'Betty' Bell are:
Eugenia Lewis (b 1840 - d 1907); Unnamed son (b 1/5/1861); Lelia L. Lewis (b ca 1864); Robert J. Lewis (b 1867 - d 1918); Bettie S. Lewis (b ca 1870); Philbert W. Lewis (b 1875 - d 1944); Euphamia 'Fanny' Lewis (b 1878); Grace Lewis (b 1880 - d 1909) and Burnettie 'Etta' Lewis (b 9/16/1885).
William died in 1907 and his body was buried; however location is still unknown.
