6 February 1552-53: Extract decreet delivered by Patrick Ireland, sheriff depute of Edinburgh, specially constituted, in causa Thomas Levinax [Lennox] in Pluntoun [Plunton] v David Ramsay, son and heir of the deceased William Ramsay of Balmane [Balmangan], for implement of contract, dated 6 November 1544, whereby the said deceased William Ramsay bound himself to sell the 9 merkland of Pluntoun to the said Thomas. 11 April 1534: Charter by which James V, King of Scots, confirms that he has given certain lands in feu farm to William Ramsay of Balmayne and his wife Marjorie Wod. The lands in question were the lands of Trarinzane in the Sheriffdom of Ayr, and one half of the land of Kirkandrews in the lordship of Galloway and Sheriffdom of Wigton. 4 January 1538-39: Charter by which James V, King of Scots, confirms possession of certain lands to William Ramsay and his wife Marjorie Wod. The lands in question were the town and lands of Balmane, the lands of lie Strath, and the mill of Fethircarno, all in the barony of Balmane and sheriffdom of Kincardine. 6 October 1539: "Wil Ramsay of Balmany" was scheduled to take part in an assize in the Sheriffdom of Kincardine on this date but he had to be replaced because he was absent from the County. RMS 1513-46: charter number 2039

24 September 1543: Precept of sasine by William Raysay [Ramsay] of Balmane [Balmangan] in favour of Thomas Levenax [Lennox] of the lands of Clowttoun, occupied by the said Thomas, in the parish of Kirkandris [Kirkandrews], in liferent.
