George Gastineau's 'PARENTAGE IS DEBATABLE

For now this is the only fair way I can see possible of putting George up in the ‘Gastineau Tree’ whether it is correct or incorrect since there are Gedcoms floating out there yet stating a;; the versions listed below that George Gastineau

• IS the son of Job Sr @Job Gastineau, Sr.. and still is depending upon what source you find
• then you find another which state he is possibly the son of Job Sr. - Now Lloyd (now deceased) and his daughter are back to stating George AS A POSSIBLE SON of Job Gastineau Sr. and his mother was possibly Elizabeth Nutterwell I think if you go back to the original books done by Flossie Oakes, Gastineau Family 2nd Edition (1973/4). that she expressed doubt of the relationship between Job. sr. and George - I never seen the books only heard of it by word of mouth; so I can not state for sure how the relationship was stated in it for Job. sr. and George Gastineau and no one would send copies of the pages concerning him and George
• and yet there are others which states his IS NOT the son of job Sr.
• now in internet files it is stated he “was related to George Lewis Gastineau@ George Lewis Gastineau in some as-yet-unknown way, possibly as a great-nephew”
• another researcher states: For various reasons, the correct connection between Job Sr. and my George Gastineau still eludes family researchers — but it certainly exists.

This allows him to remain connected to the “Gastineau tree/lineage and showing the controversy and debate that has been going on for over the last 30+ years. I have connected him and unconnected him so many times ...

The printed volume of the Lloyd Gastineau book I  bought in the early 1990's  I think he had stated  that Job was the father of George Gastineau  following the  theory of the Flossie Oaks book - but I donated my book to the National genealogical Society  library loan program - which is now free to all through the St. Louis Public Library

Micheal k. Smith at one time had stated on his website since I first found this he has redesigned his website edited and corrected it:

supposed marriage to Sally Carraway@ Sarah Carraway is wishful thinking and the identity of his first wife (my ancestor) is still unknown.
In family tradition, George [Gastineau] is supposed to have married 1st Sally Carraway 9 June 1791 in Lynhaven Parish, Princess Anne County, Virginia. However, this depends on his name having been recorded as Gasking. There was, in fact, a "George Gasking" in Lynhaven who married Sally Carraway on the date noted -- but this was NOT George Gastineau.
Both the Gaskings and the Carraways are thoroughly researched families in Princess Anne County, and neither of them has any documented connection of any kind to the Gastineau family. A supposed marriage to Sally Carraway is wishful thinking and the identity of his first wife (my ancestor) is still unknown

The where abouts of how to obtain an original copy of the Flossie Oakes books for re-view is unknown. I do know that Lloyd Gastineau used them as the basis for his book and corrected and done more research and even after the printing he was continuing researching the line with his daughter janie Budd up till his death on Oct. 16th, 2005.

The last & third edition of "Our Gastineau Family" was put out by me in 1994. I am still adding to it & someone can use it some day to put out the 4th edition. The last edition is over 400 pages & goes back to England, then France. A new edition would be about 700 pages today. I knew Flossie real well & helped her put out the first book, then she did the second book by herself which was the first hardback - April 18, 2001 - Loyd Gastineau this was found on Genfourm's Gastineau board.
