- Notes from 'Abandoned Mansions of Ireland' by Tarquin Blake. "Built by Helsham Family (ex Sussex, England) 1700s. Joshua Helsham was Mayor of Kilkenny, 1692/3: Richard Helsham , G.P /Professor of Psychology, Trinity College. Retired, he bought country residence,1737- died 1738 - left house (mansion), to nephew Richard - Sheriff of Kilkenny, 1740. The House was let/sold/let/sold until 1911 - to Michael Murphy and family. Sold 1953/1998 £1.74m. Application for Hotel, 2005. (the large house remains closed and bricked up (2014) horses graze outside - wallpaper still evident among ruins, staircases...many evocative photographs in book)
● Hebron House (Heborn House), County Kilkenny Of particular significance on account of the historic associations with the Bambrick, the Helsham, the Deane, the Brownrigg, the Watters, the Enery, the Cronyn, the Jones, the Murphy, and the Mansfield families the collective complex remains an important landmark enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the rural landscape.
