The Lemley surname in South Africa is first recorded at the double wedding of brothers William and Henry Lemley, 6.08.1883, in Jansenville. Their parents, William and Hannah were Aided British immigrants who landed in Port Elizabeth 30.07.1858. Their surname was in fact recorded in Britain as Lambley or Lamly, and in the ships documents it's recorded as Lumley. All the Lemley's are related as they stem from the four surviving children viz. Eliza, Mary Anne (died soon after landing in SA) Henry, William and Mary Anne. (William and Mary Anne were born in SA.) William Sr died in 1864, Hannah remarried 6 months later and left the children with different 'foster parents' in Jansenville - never to return. We are not related to any Lemley's in USA!!!
