According to the 1793 jewish census , Macus Steuer lived in Niemes , today Mimon Czech Republic, he runed a destillery , tabaco commerce and horse trading. His eldest son Josef, was married by 1772 and was the father of Marcus Joseph, who had 4 sons, one of them, Carl, was Karel Steuer, our grandfathes grandfather. Steuer also mentioned as Steyer Or Stöaer became our surname in 1850 due to the law that obliged jews to have a hereditary germanized surname.
