Henry IV of England is my fifth cousin 18 times removed.

8/16/2013 at 8:44 PM

Geni tells me: "Henry of Bolingbroke, King of England is your 28th great grandfather." However, I doubt the accuracy of the connections between
Elizabeth Woodson and David Tyre. Especially:

* James Hamilton, Earl of Abercorn appears to be the same person as James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Abercorn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hamilton,_1st_Earl_of_Abercorn)

* Marion Boyd, Countess of Abercorn appears to be Abercorn's wife Marian/Marion Boyd

* David Tyre is shown as a 2nd great grandfather of Elizabeth Woodson, yet HE WAS BORN AFTER HER - how does that happen!?

Sure seems to me, "But I could be wrong". With a Line in my tree up my Grandmothers side of the family that my Winton family could very well be related to The Seton Earl's of Winton line. Says the Earl of Winton Arms is Quartered for the Four different marriages within the royal family. This only proves that I could be in the right direction, since bloodlines back in the day married to keep a bloodline within a family? And this isn't nothinng compared to all the Kings and Queens that I can find on Geni from Italy and all over the place.

Not only this but this Winton of Seton line are the only ones that are the most distant cousins, which would be right> "If I can't find my grandfathers line" Right?

I think this could be proof!! :)

Ian, when I first saw your surname, my first thought was that you're probably related to Alan de Wyntoun/Wyntown/Winton, father of Sir William de Seton, 1st Lord Seton.

John, I am related to Alan de Wyntoun according to Geni. Just not through my Winton line.

Alan de Wyntoun of Seton is your 6th great aunt's 14th great grandfather

Henry IV is my 3rd cousin, 19 times removed.

Henry IV is my 18th great uncle

8/17/2013 at 1:28 PM

they are all my great grandfather's as well...but there is a MISTAKE with William the conqueror..in the carpenter line with this:
William "of Wrington" Carpenter
his father → John Wesley Carpenter

William was born in 1500, and John Wesley listed there is born in 1854...so it needs to be researched and corrected...

8/17/2013 at 3:20 PM

I believe you are correct Kristin, may be a John Carpenter just not that one.
William "of Wrington" Carpenter

Not sure what happened since it is a MP but there is John "of Wrington" Carpenter listed as his father.

Roger thanks for tagging the profile. Unfortunately we do not have "relationship locking" so MPs can end up in "bad merges."

Fortunately PROs can disconnect relationships and set the tree to rights again. The best way for me is from

Profile view > edit relationships > (x) Remove (the incorrect parent set)

I just did that for John Wesley Carpenter

Geni says John Lacklund was my 10th great-grandfather. Phooey! This is based on a very loose assumption that Mary Brewster's (of the Plymouth "Mayflower" landing) unknown father was married to a woman that came from the Thomas Wentworth family. None of this is proven and some scholars have stated it's highly unlikely.
