Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, April 19, is Holocaust Remembrance Day or Yom HaShoah. Established in Israel in 1953, the day is observed as Israel’s day of commemoration for the millions of Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Around the world, people of the Jewish community observe the day to remember the 6 million lives of friends and relatives lost.

In honor of the lives lost and forever changed by the Holocaust, several genealogy projects are dedicated to finding and documenting the victims of the Nazi atrocities. These projects delve deeper into the lives of the individuals, preserving their stories and family connections, and providing a face for the 6 million people who were killed.
