I'm in awe of how you all have sorted out the contradictory information.

I was going through my files and found some old papers on James Allen. I cant seem to find him in the tree anymore.

Didnt know if you were interested in documentation on the Allens

He was born in Leicester, Central England November 28, 1864 and died in 1912.
He wrote 19 books

There are several James Allens in this Allen tree, I am working on but I don't see this particular one. Is he connected ?

I didn't want to touch the several George Allens until you experts weighed it, but they seemed to be very similar. Also, it appears that George Allen had a large number of children with his two wives, only some of which are reflected in some of the G.A. profiles.

Although I did turn out to be a descendant (probably) through Henry Allen, a younger son of George Allen, I am taking a back seat but am available to do research in NEGHS online or to help as a curator.

If I ever figure out who all these Allens are, I'll pitch in, but I'm dangerous right now :) Too little knowledge and too quick to assume with what looks to be a difficult family tree.

The way I see it, is that we need to find sources for the information and document the unresolvable and where there are conflicting hypotheses.

I agree Richard and Margaret Wyatt seem like the most likely parents of George Allen

And he would be the brother of a Samuel?

This really is an interesting discussion. According to him, Samuel Allen of Windsor who died in 1648 was not related to any other Allen of New England - based on Y DNA studies. And the settlers of Windsor were mostly from Dorchester.

Great article Hatte... proves Ralph cannot be George's father ... and the reference to the "Mrs. Allyn" and "Olde Mr. Allyn" from Braintree, England could be referring to George and Katherine as he was one of the oldest to immigrate over.
